Elite Team

   Elite Competition Travel Team


The Walnut Creek Elite Team is a commitment based Folkstyle & Freestyle wrestling program.  Walnut Creek Elite Wrestlers compete year round in SCWAY, USA Wrestling, and World of Wrestling Roller-Event Tournaments.  Wrestlers are eligible to join travel team after completing our beginner's class and intermediate class evaluation test.  Our goal is to average 2-3 tournaments spread out each month to prevent burn out and overtraining.  The Elite travel team will be selected by the coaching staff.  There are only 20 spots available.

Elite Team Rules
  1. The Walnut Creek Elite Team is a commitment based travel competition team.  
  2. We will compete in a balanced schedule of County, State, Regional, & National wrestling events.
  3. Win Loss records do not determine membership.  The WC Elite Team will have a different schedule than our house league intermediate team.
  4. Wrestlers are expected to compete in all local county events.
  5. Wrestlers/parents are expected to have inform coaching staff if they will miss practice or tournaments. 
  6. WC Elite Wrestlers are expected to be coachable, humble, and maintain poise under pressure. 
  7. Only 20 spots available for the Elite team.  Failure to follow team rules will forfeit WC Elite Team membership.
  8. No parents, siblings, friends allowed on the mat.  Only approved certified coaches are on the mat.  All Coaches are NCEP certified, USAW Bronze level certified, & have gone through background checks, finger printing, and TB tests.
  9. No sideline coaching during practice or during competitions!  Your kids will learn to listen to their coaches.  
  10. The wrestler or their parent must notify the head coach in advance if they are going to be late, miss practice, or miss a competition. 
Please let Coach Carlos know if you would like your son considered for the Elite Team or the Intermediate House Team.  The Intermediate Team has no pressure to compete.  Team roster for the Elite Team will be posted after the second week of Fall Session class.

    To compete in 2011-2012 tournaments you will need to buy the following membership cards.  If you are just doing the Freestyle season, you will need a USA wrestling card for $40.

    State Championship tournaments require red & blue singlets, head gear, and mouth guards.
